Celtic Trail – Semi locked down

Many hopes and plans have been scuppered in recent months so I thought I would salvage something of the summer and throw my leg over the iron horse to ride for a few days. So it’s home in Cheltenham to Fishguard on the west coast of Wales via the Celtic Trail. I’m no Ray Mears so it will be credit card touring for 4 days – none of this camping business; besides, it gets pretty wild out west.

So thank goodness for my old friends Sustran. They create, mantain and publish routes all over the UK for cyclists and walkers to get away from civilisation and they’re amazing. They’re a charity so buy a map and support them – i’m not getting paid to say that!

Touring essentials

The weather forecast for tomorrow is dire. Heavy rain all day. I went in to town today and bought myself a hi-viz yellow rain jacket and other assortments to keep me dry but I’m not that hopeful to be honest, I just look like some weird road ganger in tights.

I set out in the morning (Monday) and I’ll keep you updated but if you don’t hear anything for a day or two send help! Over and out.
